Hegemony Fleet
The military arm of the Hegemony, defending the WorldWeb from the Ousters and other threats.
The Hegemony is an interstellar governmental entity formed by many planets, most of which are connected by instantaneous farcaster portals. The farcasters are created and managed by the TechnoCore, an AI civilization. The Hegemony is opposed by the Ousters, genetically modified humans that fled the Hegemony's growing influence even before Earth was destroyed. The Hegemony Fleet is the military force that defends the Hegemony, and FORCE fleets have been committed to the Hyperion system. The Hegemony CEO is Meina Gladstone, who positions Severn as a member of her staff. The Hegemony's farcaster network is ultimately destroyed on Gladstone's orders, causing the WorldWeb to disintegrate.

Lore & Background
The Hegemony Fleet operates under the authority of the Hegemony CEO, Meina Gladstone, and is tasked with defending the WorldWeb—the network of planets connected by farcaster portals. The fleet's primary adversaries are the Ousters, genetically modified humans who fled the Hegemony's influence and have since launched an invasion of Hyperion. During the events of The Fall of Hyperion, FORCE fleets are committed to the Hyperion system, leaving other worlds vulnerable to a surprise Ouster counterattack that targets the WorldWeb itself. Admiral Lee sends a transmission showing an autopsy on a supposed Ouster from their battlefleet, but the body destroys itself in the same manner as Core cybrids, confirming that the supposed Ouster attacks are actually Core attacks. General Morpurgo leads a ship supposedly on its way to Hyperion with a Core deathwand technology designed to kill any human on the surface and all of the Ouster swarm. Instead, the General and his son time their transit so that they are inside the farcaster system during its destruction, destroying themselves along with the weapon, saving Hyperion.
